EDI Solutions Explained

The world of EDI is a mysterious one. It has its own language, difficult requirements and sometimes ambiguous results. Recently, I was hired to help a company implement an EDI solution with SPS commerce. The foundation of their solution had already been decided, so I was somewhat limited in the tools I could use, however realized there is a real dis-connect between Sales, Operations and the IT group. The relevant parties recognize they must implement EDI, but not all have a true understanding of what each is responsible for, nor do they know the proper workflow within the organization.

I’d like to outline the basic procedures behind processing the Purchase Order (850), Advanced Ship Notice (856), and the Sales Invoice (810). The workflow systemically and physically should be relatively the same regardless of your ERP system. I’ll also discuss the difference between File Integration Service versus Webforms and briefly discuss hosted options available in the market place today.

Canari Cyclewear Improves Operations And Planning with New Business Software

Canari Cyclewear manufactures top-of-the-line cycling gear that is resold by independent bike shops and large sporting-goods retailers around the world.
